Loma de las Pizarras:
An exceptional and rarely visited viewpoint
Taking the shortest route...
Our journey begins along the traditional trail to Laguna Torre, marking the start of an exciting approach. After approximately 5 km of hiking, we take the fork that leads to the beautiful Lagunas Madre and Hija, which we will see from above.
We start the ascent, entering a beautiful lenga forest that gradually turns into a steeper slope. As we gain altitude, the landscape transforms and finally, we reach the viewpoint. Here, a spectacular view of the majestic Cerro Fitz Roy and the imposing granite walls that surround it awaits us. This amazing panorama stretches all the way to Lake Viedma, an enormous mirror, where the Vueltas River deposits its waters.
From the top of the Loma de las Pizarras, we enjoy a unique moment to contemplate the immensity of the landscape and appreciate the grandeur of the surrounding nature, obtaining panoramic views of the Fitz Roy River Valley and the Rio Blanco Valley.

Another option ➤ The long and full road
Leaving the village, we will take the path that leads us to Laguna Capri, called the Fitz Roy Trail. After passing the aforementioned lagoon, at approximately km 6, we will find the path towards the Madre and Hija Lagoons.
Once we have visited the lagoons, we will continue to the fork that takes us to our viewpoint to conquer, the Loma de las Pizarras.
After enjoying all the panoramic views, we will return to El Chaltén, through the valley of Cerro Torre, thus completing a magnificent and unforgettable circuit.
A journey that few dare to undertake, and that you can hardly do without the assistance of a professional.
