Laguna de los Tres
A must on your itinerary, as from there you can access the base of Cerro Fitz Roy.
Exploring diverse forest and mountain scenery, we set off in the morning in a shuttle to the trailhead at the Rio Electrico Bridge, located 16 kilometres from the village.
Once there, we start our hike through a beautiful forest of lenga trees that protects us from the winds coming from the Ice Field (Continental Ice). During the walk, we will be able to contemplate different glaciers such as the Marconi, the Eléctrico, the Cagliero and, in the distance, the Vespignani.
We start a gentle ascent until we reach the Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint, continuing on to the Poincenot camp, from where some granite spires unfold before us, climbed by the most daring climbers, such as Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz and Guillaumet, among others.
After passing the camp and crossing a beautiful bridge over the Rio Blanco, we face the most demanding kilometre, characterised by a difference in altitude of 400 metres. Throughout this stretch, we climb steadily, depending on the time of year we may have ice or snow on the path. The reward is the panoramic views that accompany us along the way, and at the end after crossing the glacier moraine, our eyes will be enchanted by the scenery.
After a break for lunch and to photograph the immensity, we return to the village, passing the beautiful Capri Lagoon with its sandy beaches and then the viewpoint of the Rio de las Vueltas, before finally arriving back in the village.
