We depart from the hotel in a shuttle that takes us over 18 km of gravel road until we reach the Río Eléctrico Bridge.
From here, we embark on a 2-hour hike on a mostly flat trail that takes us to the Refugio de Piedra del Fraile, through a dense and lush forest.
At this point, we begin a steep zigzag ascent to Piedra Negra, gaining altitude rapidly as we enjoy panoramic views of the Río Eléctrico valley below us.
Once we reach Piedra Negra, a famous campsite that attracts intrepid climbers, approximately an additional hour of traverse awaits, which may include crossing a glacier (depending on snow and ice conditions), until we reach Paso del Cuadrado.
The effort invested is more than rewarded by the breathtaking views that unfold before us from this high point, ranging from majestic granite massifs to immense glaciers and valleys, among other impressive panoramas.
After a well-deserved rest, we return along the same path.
